About
Hello, I’m Rachel. I refuse to write about myself in the third person on my own blog so let me tell you a bit about myself. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Combined Honours in Arts in 2009, I spent two years working as a Library Assistant based in the academic liaison team at a university library in the North East of England (I try not to be too explicit about this online, as my views are my own and do not reflect the views of my institution – disclaimer over!).
In December 2011, I was promoted to manage communications and marketing for the library and heritage collections. In my new role, I’m responsible for marketing five library sites, our archives and special collections, a gallery space which is hosting the Lindisfarne Gospels in 2013, and two museums. It’s definitely something to get my teeth into! I’ve decided to continue with some of my front-line service desk work, as I think there are strong links between customer services and communications, so at various points of my week you’ll find me behind the service desk at the Main Library.
I blog about librarianship, communications and marketing and my work towards CILIP Chartership, which I hope to submit towards the end of 2012.
Find me on…
